Time to Binge Read!

Bonjour my internet friends,

This will be a combination of the fact that I have now so many books that I own and have not read and are to be read and I just finished reading Tyler Oakley's best selling novel.

Do you ever have the problem of buying or receiving books and just putting them on the shelf to look pretty? That's my current problem. I have gotten a lot better as my to be read list has shortened over this past month but it's still hard as I am a book buying fiend.

I love having books at my fingertips for whenever I need them (be it a debate about the order of the Chronicles of Narnia or who actually killed Voldemort in Deathly Hallows). It is such a wonderful idea to have, especially when the bookshelf begins to spill over and insists upon a new shelf be put in.

I am a book lover forever and the fact that I have so many now (almost 200 I believe) is such a crazy thing to think of. I love it and am appalled at the same time. Where will all these books go when I move? (or we, depending which comes first.)

Who knows, all I know is that this holiday season will be full of me reading in every spare moment to catch up. Hopefully my 'to be read' list will not exist when I am done.

Now, Tyler Oakley created the masterful piece Binge. It is a memoir and written all the way up to very recently this year.

Goodreads summarized it as: Pop culture phenomenon, social rights advocate, and the most prominent LGBTQ+ voice on YouTube, Tyler Oakley brings you his first collection of witty, personal, and hilarious essays written in the voice that’s earned him more than 10 million followers across social media.

It received a 4.51 star rating on their website as well. Pretty good Tyler.

Now I am so glad I read this book and got more insight to Tyler as an actual person rather than a YouTube personality. I learned so much about him from page 1 to page 300.

He was perfectly shady and slay-worthy throughout the entire novel and I am so glad we got to see the man behind the camera. He wrote of his eating disorders, moving to California, his first celebrity encoutners, and you can't help but cry, smile, and laugh all the way through.

Binge is truly intriuging and I definitely enjoyed learning about Tyler (or should I say Matthew) in a new and exciting way.

Love you Tyler. Keep making fabulous content and never stop being who you are because it inspires me. A wise person once told me to go meet my idols because sometimes they’ll be incredible. And it was you. Right after you finished filming for Ellen. And I want you to know how you feel about Ellen is how I feel about you. I am so glad we were able to meet at the Slumber Party Tour stop in Vancouver. Thank you for being so sweet.

Re-Vamping The Blog

Bonjour my internet friends,

I think it's time to rethink my point of the blog here. I haven't posted in ages and feel really bad! But as usual, Zoella gets me back and inspired thanks to the lovely Penny Porter. I read Girl Online: On Tour over the weekend and that made me rethink what I am trying to do here.

A friend of mine gave me some advice for running this monstrosity. Have a theme and stick with it. So I now have decided on a theme! One of my passions has recently been rekindled.

Books!

So now this (along with my instagram and possibly my youtube) will be book based.

I am so excited to start on this new journey!

I hope you all enjoy the new posts.

Books (Romance, Fantasy, Young Adult, The Works)

Bonjour my internet friends,

I love books. Books are for reading. Reading is amazing.

I have been a reader for years. I don't even remember starting, I just remember always reading. Nancy Drew, Junie B Jones, and Archie comics as a young reader.

Believe me, I am a true internet kid. It is very hard to tear me away from the computer screen. Although, "There's a new episode of Once Upon A Time/Scream Queens/Modern Family/The Big Bang Theory on!" and "Get off the computer and do some homework! You don't have any? Go read a book!" will definitely help get me off my butt and onto another seat for another form of entertainment.

The internet has helped me find other people who are in love with the fictional world. On Tumblr there are so many headcanons and fanart, I just love it. And on Instagram, it's the same.

My only problem is when I get a really good book that I can't put down. Emphasis on 'can't put down.'

I have stayed up until all hours to finish a book or series. And, this may seem weird but true, the bathroom is usually where this is done.

I'll be reading on the toilet (please, I'm not the only one to do this) and the clock will start ticking and my butt will start to fall asleep so I'll finish up and sit on the toilet seat. But that gets uncomfortable after a while so I move to leaning against the bathroom door. Then I'll lean forward until I am laying on the bathroom floor.

I am determined when I get close to the end of a novel. I have finished many of the Vampire Academy books this way. (I actually completed the series recently.)

I love to read and if my 180 book collection doesn't give that away, I don't know what will.

Books also include their authors and some of my favourite authors are JK Rowling, Rick Riordan, Veronica Roth, Suzanne Collins, Sarah Dessen, John Green, Rainbow Rowell, and many more. But specifically, my most favourite is Susane Colasanti.

She is probably the absolute greatest. Her Young Adult Romance Fiction hooks me every time. (I cannot wait for the second City Love! I wrote a review here.) And I own 67% of all her books. As shown in that photo.

And not only is she an amazing writer, she is great when she interacts with her fans on social media.

The middle comment was on my photo of my bookshelf (first photo). The top comment and right Facebook post is for that photo of me on the stairs with her books. And finally, the tweet is about my review of City Love that I tweeted to her.

I am just so happy that authors do these kinds of things for their fans. Especially when they stay up until 4AM to find out exactly if they fall in love or not. ;)

Autumn (Fashion, Drinks, School, and Much More)

 Bonjour my internet friends,

“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.”
― J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I love autumn. I was born in October. Halloween. Leaves falling. Amazing fashion. Hot chocolate. Tea. Reading. Fireplaces and bonfires. Thanksgiving. Movie nights. Crunchy leaves. The colours. Comfort foods. Candy corn. Autumn rain smell. Sweaters. Cinnamon. S'mores. Hay bale rides. Corn maze. Scarves. Ankle Boots. Leggings. Foggy breath in the morning. The crisp air. Raking leaves. Toques. Braids. New seasons of shows. EVERYTHING.

That photo I have attached up there is from this last fall outside of Old Navy and seemed to look autumnal so I am using it because I can't find any other good autumn photos of mine.

School just started and I am nervous and excited. It is so nice to be in class again and see all the people I haven't seen in two months. Going back to school is the sign that fall has started and it excites me. I have good classes and good teachers.

Halloween should be good. I have plans to try to go as a Disney princess. Maybe, we'll see. My group was going to do a group costume of Alice in Wonderland but none of the guys are in anymore. I was going to be the Queen of Hearts. Princess Belle now? Or Rapunzel? We shall see.

I am already jumping in to the fall fashion. If you go on my Tumblr and look through the tag, fall fashion, you will see exactly how much I love fall fashion. Boots, leggings, sweaters, jeans, comfy scarves, toques, just so much cozy love!

What I am most excited for is sitting by our fireplace (on the tv) and reading a good book in my sweater and leggings drinking hot chocolate or tea listening to my 1989 record.

Also, my birthday. I am so close to 16 I could almost taste it.

I have some plans but I think I need to have a meeting with my family to discuss what I could do. Both for my family party and friends.

This is going to be a good final few months of 2015.

Here's to 2016 and chapters 9 and 10 of 12.

We haven't seen anyone yet but we hope to soon.

Day 12: All You Had To Do Was Stay

Bonjour my internet friends,

Tomorrow.

Day 12: Anticipation

I am just so excited. Taylor is going to be here tomorrow (and I've heard she is here early!!!). The concert will obviously be so good.

This is going to be amazing.

I can't wait to meet all the swifties I've met on tumblr. Shelby, Alec, Caitlyn, Emily, and everyone.

It's going to be so muc fun!!

This one is just a short one but I can't wait.

I have so many expectations but I'm going to try to go in with an open mind.

Loft '89 would be so cool but I know it's a slim chance (but a girl can hope!)

I have my outfit ready for tomorrow and we are raring to go!!

Taylor, all you have to do is stay.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 11: Shake It Off

Bonjour my internet friends,

On August 14th, 2014 the world was exposed to the new sound of Taylor Swift in the form of Shake It Off. And finally, on October 27th, 2014 the world heard the entirety of the new sound.

Day 11: 1989

This album just rocks my world, holy! She did so amazing on this one and I am so proud of her. The cover is different than what she's done before and the whole sound is different but it's just so great.

As soon as I heard Welcome to New York, I fell in love. New York is one of my favourite cities (where Taylor happens to mainly reside) and I have always loved the atmosphere there. This song is just readying me to go there and what it says to me is: come on over and you will be welcomed with open arms and wild hearts.

When I heard Shake It Off for the first time, I was like whoa. And then I listened to it again and was like, whoa. And then I listened to it again and was like, WHOA. This song is amazing! I don't give a crap what the girls in the locker room say about Taylor, I am just going to shake it off because this song is an anthem of mine as explained here. :)

Bad Blood is so amazing and hardcore. The original is awesome, especially when I first heard it but the remix with Kendrick Lamar is badass. I love the bass of the remix but the original lyrics. So it's a win-win because why not just listen to both?

Wildest Dreams is such a beautiful mystical song. I just love singing it. It kind of reminds me of Lana Del Rey at some points. Much like Sad Beautiful Tragic actually.

I just love the power of I Know Places. I love the metaphor of the hunters and foxes. And I mean, the chorus ugh beautiful

Clean is just such a coming out of something better song. Like, rehab or mental and physical healing. It's just so great and metaphorical. Rain came pouring down when I was drowning, That's when I could finally breathe. And by morning gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean.

New Romantics is just. so great. I love the just happiness of it. Love your friends and forget about that long list of ex-lovers and that scarlet letter. It's like a song for all the hopeless romantics and just a slam in the face for anyone who doubts us.

Now, Wonderland, I am so happy. I love Alice in Wonderland so the fact that she did this is so great. The lyrics are so great and I just love the mystical setting. I really wish she would've had this on the setlist.

1989 is a fabulous album and I am obsessed.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 10: This Love

Bonjour my internet friends,

This love is good, this love is bad (not at all), this love is alive back from the dead and it's in the form of the 1989 world tour.

Day 10: Tour

I will now take this opportunity to freak out over the amazingness that is this tour.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Breathe. Calm.

Moving on.

So far from what I have observed this tour is amazing. Magnificent.

Her setlist looks pretty decent. I mean, she obviously starts with Welcome to New York because how else would you?

And in there is an Enchanted/Wildest Dreams mashup I am so not ready for.

And she ends with Shake It Off, genius.

Her performance has always been pretty incredible. Her outfit changes are iconic and her dancers are fabulous.

I am just so excited for her because as many of us know she has had a special guest at almost every show. From Jason Derulo to MKTO to Lorde to the entire squad.

I just want to know, who will she bring to ours?!

Who could it be? I don't really know.

I am just so excited because this tour has brought so many amazing things to the fandom. Like Calvin at shows. Or Karlie. Or just, yes. I don't even know, I'm so pumped.

What I have seen from photos and videos: the tour is SO MUCH FUN, for the both the fans and Taylor (and her crew of course).

I am so happy Taylor has been having fun and is performing and doing what she loves for the people she loves (us).

She is just so amazing.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

P.S. if you are wondering, I made that edit up there. Please don't steal it. I worked really hard. :)

Day 9: Bad Blood

Bonjour my internet friends,

When Taylor became not-so-country-pop-but-still-country-enough-to-be-considered-country.

Day 9: Red

This album is quite fantastic. This was the beginning of an amazing era. Before the bad blood and amazing innocence.

I love the music off this record. From State of Grace to Begin Again, she just wows. I am going to pinpoint a few of my favourites.

I love the colour analogy and metaphor of Red. It is so powerful and raw and amazing like the colour. It is just so great for a rock session.

Treacherous is so beautiful. It is just explaining the risks she is willing to take for a relationship and that she is okay with that. I love the chorus: This slope is treacherous, This path is reckless, This slope is treacherous, And I, I, I like it.

All Too Well is a very coveted song in the fandom. I don't completely understand why but that doesn't matter, what does matter is that we all love it and it's over 5 minutes of beautiful-amazing-soothing-emotional Taylor. I love it so much.

Stay Stay Stay, the literal cutest song in existence. They fight but then he comes back because he really does care about her. It really represents that a relationship is a game of give-and-take. It has to be balanced on both sides or else the scales tip and everything ends.

Now, The Last Time is with Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and I am so happy with this collaboration. It is an amazing song just saying, you have no more chances, I'm going to ask you this one more time.

Sad Beautiful Tragic. Period. This song is so soothing and calm and so breathless. I love how she sings in this one, it's like a whisper and a little rasp. I love the breathiness of it. It sounds so pretty.

The Lucky One makes me think of the celebrity lifestyle and how hard it is to make it and then to have your name everywhere. It's hard and Taylor was very lucky. She was born into a family with money and was able to make it. And I don't know exactly who she is talking about but this person was big but went too high too fast and needed an escape. I feel like this song explains it so well.
(I hope this one made sense.)

When I saw Everything Has Changed on the album, I almost died. This song is very cute and the video is even better. The collaboration with Ed Sheeran makes it even more perfect. Their friendship means everything to me. They are so cute and this song represents that perfectly.

And finally my all time go-to and favourite, Starlight. I have always loved the just innocence of this song, following the couple on their date and the awesome metaphors Taylor uses just gets me.

Ones I Missed: State of Grace, I Knew You Were Trouble, 22, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Holy Ground, and Begin Again.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 8: Style

Bonjour my internet friends,

Iconic. Beautiful. Classic. Style. Taylor.

Day 8: Outfits and Fashion

Taylor is known for her iconic style via each era of her career. I can't even express how much I love her style. Especially this 1989 era. To just point out a few favourites:

Amazing, right? :)

Anyway, other than Taylor having amazing style herself (off and on tour) she also has fans with amazing talent and skills in the fashion area as well.

Leighanne (on the left)

Shelby (on the left)

Lotte (on the left)

Lotte, that beautiful creature up there who looks a lot like the amazing singer (hence the 'lol thought that was me' sign because Taylor is goof), has also come up with a lot of outfit ideas for shows that you can find here if you still are clueless about what to wear and your show is a week away!

Speaking of, my show is a week away. (what?!) And I still am lost on what to wear. I do have some ideas. I have one inspired by the look in the '22' video and another just by general Taylor style.

inspired by:

Hey, if you can let me know which one I should choose! Or come up with an idea on your own. Maybe one of Lotte's ideas would be cool. Let me know!

Taylor Swift and her Swifties have an impeccable style going for them (or dare I say, us) and I think we should applaud them (us) for this accomplishment. well done.

That is all for now. :)

Naddy xoxo

Day 7: Wildest Dreams

Bonjour my internet friends,

Probably the peak of my existence and the reason for my death I present ...

Day 7: Speak Now

This album is long but it is so beautiful. I didn't listen to this album as much as I could have or should have. But I have my favourites and I think I'll just do a little on those instead. :)

I really love Ours. It is cute and happy and makes me feel good. I love the beauty of the vocals and lyrics.

Mine is just such a lovely song about having a crush and it going further. The lyrics are amazing and I don't know how else to express it.

Every time I hear Sparks Fly I want to jam out as much as possible. It is an amazing song for Emergency Dance Parties.

Back to December is a perfect mix of sad and nostalgic.

Speak Now (the album song!!) is the best. Very straight forward and shady. I love it haha.

When I listen to Mean, I want to hurt anyone who hurt my queen. And I mean, it's also relatable with amazing strong lyrics.

Now, Never Grow Up makes me feel all types of ways. I like to think of it as Taylor singing to me, me singing to my 2 year old cousin, me singing to my sisters, just an all around love circle. This song makes me take a step back and realize I need to reevaluate my mentality. I don't need to grow up just yet. (makes me cry just a little bit)

This is and always has been my favourite song. Enchanted is a beautiful song, both lyrically and story line and melodically and just the song is so soundly pleasing.

I didn't understand a lot of the lyrics in Better Than Revenge when I was twelve, but oh man I get it now. This song is influential and so mighty. I love just screaming and being mad to this song because that's what it's meant for, right? ;)

I hope you enjoyed my little loves off this amazing album. Taylor is a lyrical genius and always omits amazing songs. Even in your wildest dreams, she comes through.

Ones I missed: Dear John, The Story of Us, Innocent, Haunted, Last Kiss, Long Live, Superman, and If This Was A Movie.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 6: How You Get the Girl

Bonjour my internet friends,

That there is the ultimate singer/songwriting celebrity couple of this generation.

Day 6: Boys

Now, as you all may know, Taylor is kind of known for her dating life and writing songs about them. But can I point out she has only dated seven (celebrity) guys in her approximately nine year music career. (This is including that handsome guy up there who really got the girl).

First we had Joe Jonas in 2008, then Taylor Lautner in 2009, John Mayer in 2009/10, Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010/11, Conor Kennedy in 2012, Harry Styles in 2012/13, and Calvin Harris since March of this year (2015).

Reading that, you'd probably be pretty appalled at the seemingly large number. But I'd like to disagree.

That is only seven people (including her current boyfriend) in her almost ten year career. The career that started in 2006. Her celebrity dating life started two years later. She has been noted to have crushes and being a crush of some but those are not counted because she never had a relationship with them.

Taylor is a girl who likes boys. And she writes songs from the point of view of a girl who likes boys.

About 76% of her songs are about love and being in love and the aftermath of love. (real study done by a Swiftie, you can see what she did here).

But as each album goes on, the fairy tale love fades slightly. Because during her first few years Taylor was a teenager, a hopeless romantic. Now she is 25 and a hopeless romantic. which, musically, looks and sounds a little different.

Whenever you are in a mood for love, Taylor is there.

Just went through a breakup? Taylor.

Just feel lovesick and romantic? Taylor.

Madly in love? Taylor.

Have a crush? Taylor.

Feeling doubtful of your relationship? Taylor.

In your first relationship? Taylor.

So done with love? Taylor.

And on and on and on. Because she just does so well with that type of songwriting.

For many girls, she sets an example of how love works. Because of the way she writes in her songs, they know that love isn't perfect or all about sex.

They (or maybe I should say we) realize that love has it's ups and downs. Amazing moments and not-so-amazing. Someone might be perfect one day and horribly wrong the next.

Taylor has set an amazing example in my opinion of how relationships work. Because, sometimes, they don't. She is my celebrity role model in everything she does. Including her love life.

I try to think the way Taylor does considering love. Go into it with a thoughtful mind and a strong heart. That lady has taught me a lot through her actions and songs.

Now that I've gone off on a tangent, I'm going to conclude that Taylor is a wonderful, incredible, beautiful, tragic new romantic whom I look up to dearly.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 5: I Wish You Would

Bonjour my internet friends,

Let's jump right into it. Taylor Swift. Fearless era. Go.

Day 5: Fearless

Fearless is by far my favourite album. No matter how much I love Red. Or 1989. Or Speak Now

This is the album that brought me into the Swiftie lifestyle. Sometimes, I wish I would have caught on a little sooner.

I fell in love with Love Story (as I said here) and downloaded the album onto a CD as soon as possible and listened to it for days. It was amazing and still is.

I find Fifteen more relatable now than when I was ten or eleven. Now that I am fifteen I find that the things that happened in the song are in real life (to me and others I have seen).

You Belong With Me is my favourite jam and has been for years. It's an amazing song and I just love it so much. The video is my absolute favourite. I love the part where they talk at the window. Adorable! Haha.

Breathe is like one of my main anthems. I love when she just sings "mmm mmm mmm". It just makes sense to me. the lyrics are just so beautiful and wonderful. I love that you can relate it to almost any situation. And the chorus is so simple and yet, so powerful.

Forever and Always has always been a favourite of mine, I'm not sure why. I just love the hook because I'll just sing 'once upon a time' and launch right into the song. It's so great. I also named my blog (Tumblr) after this song. You can follow me here. ;)

The Best Day is a very special song to me. It's about Taylor and her mom and I have a very close relationship with my own mother. I love her to bits and this song just brings back a lot of memories with her and the memories to come. My mother is my best friend and like a sister. I love her so much.

Now, I could rave on about each song individually (as it seems like I was doing that) but I think it's just easier to give a quick one sentence reason why I love the song with a favourite lyric.

Fearless: Best song for driving, especially in the rain with the top down.
And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress

Hey Stephen: Teenage hope for a relationship with all the little anxieties that come along with it.
All those other girls – Well, they're beautiful, But would they write a song for you?

White Horse: A little bit of heartbreak and little bit of coming out of it powerful.
I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well

Tell Me Why: Upbeat and innocent: very truth-telling and calling him out for his actions.
Why do you have to put down my dreams, So you're the only thing on my mind

You're Not Sorry: Raw and a very lyrically strong song.
You used to shine so bright, But I watched all of it fade

The Way I Loved You: Sometimes a guy can be perfect but you miss the raw power of being in love.
And it's 2am and I'm cursing your name, You're so in love that you act insane

Change: I love this one because it's about moving past what happened and winning in life.
And the battle was long, it’s the fight of our lives, But we’ll stand up champions tonight

I love Fearless so much. This is Taylor to me. Raw, real, innocent, powerful, and a teenager going through her first loves and friendships writing songs about it in the process.

Keep smiling beautifuls,
Naddy xoxo

Day 4: Out Of The Woods

Bonjour my internet friends,

There on the left is Meredith Grey and on the right is Olivia Benson. They are amazing little creatures and belong to the one and only Taylor Swift. You got it? Let's get started.

Day 4: Cats

Now cats are a huge part of Taylor's life. It's a love that is straight out of the woods.

She has two of them. Meredith and Olivia. They are both the cutest things in the entire world. And Taylor was very creative with their names.

Meredith is named after Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy.

Olivia is named after Olivia Benson from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

I love cats. Only one problem: I am very allergic.

It is the unfortunate case that a cat lover such as I, happens to not be allowed to touch a cat without having to wash my hands very thoroughly before commencing with life.

This makes attending my aunt's house for any reason very hard.

She has three (used to be four, rest in peace) amazing black cats.

Izzy, Buffy, and Deeyo are amazing. I have recently taken a love for them at a sleepover with my aunt. We had a lot of fun and I had cuddle time with the kitties.

Although, Deeyo is an outdoor cat so I don't have as much cuddles with him, Izzy and Buffy are great cuddly companions. The two girls are cute and sometimes a little vocal but that's what I love.

I really like cats (almost as much as Tay). And hope to have one in my future. (Hypo allergenic most likely haha)

Cats (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Day 3: Clean

Bonjour my internet friends,

As you can see this is a familar photo. I used it for day 1 (if you read it at the time of posting) but have now changed it to a lovely Taylor in a cute music video. Enjoy.

Day 2: Taylor Swift

Now you may be thinking, duh this is about Taylor, why need a whole day on her? Well, you're right but she has her debut album that is self-titled and that's what this post is about.

Since I am a fan of Taylor, I have heard this album. But unfortunately, not in it's full extent.

Yes, that may seem terrible. But I fell in love with Fearless and didn't even know she had an album before until two years ago (I've been a fan for about 5 or 6 years).

But here I am to talk about what I love about this album.

For the past two weeks, I have been very much obsessed with the song 'Our Song'.

Like this obsessed:

Haha, yeah I like to do that sometimes.

Specifically, that album makes me think of Taylor as a young relateable sixteen year old. It is so great to listen to because it is where she started and was at the beginning, very country.

I usually don't listen to country but this is her and it's raw and real. the lyrics are just perfectly clean.

Just to say some of my favourites: Our Song, Picture to Burn, Tim McGraw, Teardrops on my Guitar, and Mary's Song (Oh My My My)

Naddy xoxo

Day 2: Blank Space

Bonjour my internet friends,

Here we have a prime display of friendship. Taylor Alison Swift and Abigail Lauren Anderson. Can we just make a quick note of Abigail's hair colour? Okay, now proceed.

Day 2: Gingers and Taylor

For some strange reason, I have always associated gingers (specifically girls) with my lovely queen. I don't know why but that lady up there may be to blame.

You see, in October of last year I started school, specifically PE or gym class, and I met this girl. She's a year younger than me and is super nice. I didn't know anything about her other than her name is Kristen, she's a ginger, and loves Taylor. She hadn't told me that yet actually. I just got a vibe from her that said 'SWIFTIE'.

You may be asking, so was I right or wrong?

I was 100% correct.

Kristen is a huge swiftie!

We bonded so much over that lady and 1989, it was great. (And we are still great friends, can I say).

I also never thought much about it either but my aunt. Yes, previously mentioned aunt. Rachel. Hey.

She is and always has been and will be my number one partner in Swift.

I also have to say my uncle too because we always talk about music together. Especially Taylor because I love her and he says she's a good performer. (He is a producer, photographer, and lead singer of the band Yuca, you can get their free single here: http://www.yuca.ca/#limitless.)

Also, more close to Taylor, Ed Sheeran anyone? Another name he is known by is Ginger Jesus? ;) Haha, despite that, Sweeran is the cutest friendship and make awesome music, separately and together.

That's honestly all I can think of but shoutout to all the redheads and gingers of the world.

You guys rock. :)

Day 1: Welcome to New York

Bonjour my internet friends,

As you may notice, my title is capitalized (shocked whispers go throughout the crowd) and that Taylor Swift is yet again making an appearance on this blog (outraged shouts come at me).

Hey hey, calm down. This is special! As you may also notice, it says 'Day 1' up there.

This is for my 13 Days of Swift. The next 13 days leading up to 1989 Vancouver (including the day of). I am so excited! This is the first one so I hope you like it.

Day 1: Discovery

I discovered Taylor first when I was about 10 or 11 in ukulele camp. We learned Love Story and I was hooked. I loved it. When we performed it, I did my very best for Taylor. After that week, I downloaded Fearless onto a CD and listened to that for ages.

As it turned out, my aunt (hey Rachel!) was a fan of Taylor herself well before myself. She saw Taylor when she was itty bitty and an opening act for Rascal Flatts, I believe is what I've been told. She has been a fan for a while and we sat on the couch today singing Taylor Swift (album), from Picture to Burn to Our Song. It's hype for the concert! I mean, she is the one taking me. That was awesome.

Anyway, back to my story.

I was in and out of love with Taylor for these next years following. I believed the rumors and thought she was a terrible person and all about dating (I know, shame on me!). But that was 12 year old me. This is 15 (almost 16) year old me who knows better.

I finally realized how much her music meant to me about a year and a half ago. I listened to her relentlessly and got myself so hyped for 1989 which is now my favourite album.

I am so proud of her and everything she's done. I feel like I relate to her on a personal level. We are just about exactly 10 years apart. (1989 to my 1999). She loves New York more than I do which is a lot.

She is my biggest inspiration and when I write songs, I channel her as much as I can! I could never speak ill of her and am part of the forever Taylor Swift defense squad.

Love you Tay. <3

city love (new york city, oh and a review)

Bonjour my internet friends,

It's time for another book review.

I just completed City Love by Susane Colasanti.

Now this book made me feel a lot of things but lonely was not one of them.

Summary: Sadie, Rosanna, and Darcy are all roommates living together in a homeshare for UNY. Sadie has lived in NY her entire life, Rosanna is from a poor family in Chicago, and Darcy is from kind of higher up in SoCal. The story moves from each of their points of view into their love lives and friendship.

Before I get started, if you plan on reading the book then do not read this review. Because damn, do I need to get out my feelings and I will be spoiling some huge information. So I repeat, stop reading now unless you don't care and just want to see my opinion. Then, thank you.

ANYWAY.

We are going to start with my girl Sadie, because I related to her most from the very start.
Sadie is on the search for love. She even has a quote above her bed "just around the corner". She goes to her internship for home design and meets this guy that she totally connects with.

Okay honestly, he's pretty much perfect. He and Sadie have so much in common it killed me to read about her so happy.

I fell in love with Austin alongside Sadie. They were just so perfectly meant for each other. With only a few years between them.

Sadie kept a secret the entire book, even from the readers, and finally told Austin. I was waiting for her to say something and when she did, it seemed like they were suddenly closer.

But NO.

See, I was expecting some sort of falling out. Probably over something stupid. But this was on another level.

Spoiler: Austin had a wife.

He was married the entire time he called Sadie his girlfriend.

When you read about this, it's hard to imagine. But I know. It would be hard for someone to know another person going through that, let alone being the person in that situation.

(Pardon my French but) Austin was a complete dick. He ended up being a horrible and rude human being. Thank god, Sadie is on another floor at their work.

Well, I guess we need to go on to my girl Rosanna. I related to her very well also. She's the shy girl who is a counselor at camp just wanting to make the world a better place even with the little money she has.

She makes a friend with one of the other counselors, Mica, and they really hit it off. I was not expecting something to happen between them. On to that later.

Mica takes Rosanna to a party for the counselors at both the districts of the camps. Rosanna has a weird encounter with one of the other counselors who spills her drink on Rosanna's shirt (she's never met this girl before). She then meets Donovan, or D.

She doesn't know how she feels about him at first but she sees the connection and props to her for recognizing it.

The only problem to her is their different worlds. Rosanna is from a poor, loving, and happy family from Chicago working at a kid's camp. D is from a rich, loving, and happy family from Manhattan working at Wall Street.

They couldn't be more different. But it was so evident that D loved Rosanna a lot. They clearly connected and he always seemed fascinated by her. It was beautiful to read.

And to read about her having a reason to feel uncomfortable getting so close to a man but not saying it, kind of killed me. All these little secrets. But that's what kept me reading.

She didn't feel comfortable telling D at any point in the book but she did reveal how she was molested as a young girl when one of her campers showed signs of a similar situation.

In light of her and Mica, the girl at the party (Addison) actually told Mica that she knew Rosanna from high school and that she said all these nasty things about her. But Rosanna has never met Addison in her life. Mica didn't believe Rosanna and they had a serious falling out. Which kind of made me cry. I didn't like it because they had such a good connection. I hope that it turns out better.

Rosanna fascinated me. I found her endearing and interesting. She was a lovely character to read from the eyes of.

On to the final and honestly craziest roommate, Darcy. She is a year older than said previous ones (who were fresh out of high school) and a very free spirit. She took off a year to backpack around Europe. Now that is a goal right there.

Darcy interested me. She was so hardcore that I think she forgot to just let go and think for a moment. And just be. Breathe.

She lived a life of luxury but still was able to keep herself grounded. She still spent money a bit recklessly but kept in mind what was important.

She told her secret story very soon into the novel. About how no boy can keep her grounded due to the breakup she had recently encountered before leaving for New York.

But then she meets Jude and he's all she could ever have hoped for. They are kindred spirits and connect but she makes it very clear that she is not going to be tied down.

But over the course of the novel it is clear things change. She still is a bit reckless and has a hookup with a guy in a Gap changing room but her character development is there.

I don't have much on Darcy to be honest. Her story
didn't really resonate with me or have the same twists and turns Rosanna and Sadie's did.

Overall, I loved it so much and am so glad I own it. I will read it again and again. Over and over.
The whole novel just reminded me of Taylor Swift. Welcome To New York, The Lucky One, Red, Enchanted, all songs that came to mind while reading the novel. Especially when the title was blatantly stated in the book. ;)

I feel like this novel is a Taylor Swift novel because New York City, love stories, twists and turns, and amazing writing.

Susane Colasanti has done it again and I want to thank her for her hard work and amazing novels. Because without her, so many of us would be stuck reading something else.

Naddy xoxo
